Updates: De-Censor and Cutscenes

The Japanese version finally went f2p as well, so I can make an update of the patches. The NPC Voicepatch didn't need any updates, so it's only the de-censor and the cutscenes.

  1. Damn, would love to download the De-censor patch, but my college internet provider is blocking mediafire.

    1. Sorry, my net is pretty bad, so uploading these takes rather long. Try using google's DNS and/or a webproxy.

    1. The f2p patch expanded the x22.gpk files (higher tier armours), which are now identical over all versions. Previously, they were 12kb in size and differed across versions. So if you applied the v1.0 on TERA:Rising, it would replace the 3MB files with 12kb ones.

I didn't see any side effects of that, probably because the western versions do not have those armours implemented. The new version will fix the files if you already have v1.0 installed or install only the needed ones if you don't.

  5. Hey, are you still updating this blog? It's the only source for recent ktera files that I found and follow. There's been a few updates since your last post, anything new?

    1. Yes, I am. Rule of thumb is, if there was no big patch for EU/US versions, then there is no need to update.

  6. The patches seems to be working with version 2.1 :)

  7. I noticed you only change a Castanic .gpk and several Popori ones (I assume these are the Elin ones).
Other sites have de-censor files for other elves and humans as well, are these not changed?

Another question: You download and update the files from the korean version yourself or do you have any source?

Thanks for your answer and all your work in this

    1. Yes, Popori female are Elin. I don't know if other sites were just lazy or the files used to be different in the past, but at the moment, only those files differ.

I calculate md5 checksums on one version and compare it to the other one. The chance that two different files get the same checksum unless they are actually one and the same is next to non-existant. Another hint, while not 100% secure, is if they have the exact same filesize, down't to the bit. I suppose I could additionally view them with the hex editor and run a compare there, but there is a limit on how paranoid one can get :P

The most differences you notice is on Elin anyway. I heard something about recent patches patching out visible nipples on castanics, but that happened to ALL versions.

I'm getting the updates from the Japanese version actually, but they're the same censoring-wise as the Korean one, so there is no difference I'm aware of. I tried getting the Korean version but it requires a KSSN to download and all the torrents I tried were either dead or were missing the invoker.exe. After 80GB and several weeks of downloads I just gave up.

  8. Do the cutscenes retain the English subtitles?
I'd rather have these in the original Korean (or at least Japanese like you have) than in English, but I'd like to be able to understand what's going on. :)

    1. The same goes for the voices though I have no idea if there are any subtitles with the [non-cutscene] voices. :S

    2. As I wrote in the actual release post for the voice patches, the english subs are still there, but the translation doesn't match 100% to what is being said in Japanese because of localization differences.

The NPC voices are nothing important, it's the same random chatter you have in English too. So you will be able to understand what is going on.

  9. After a recent patch in April for Tera: Rising US, it does not appear these files work any longer. They cause client crashes.

    1. No crashes here (latest TERA: Rising EU).

As I wrote here, you have to uninstall the mods before applying any patches. If you forgot to do that, you most likely screwed up your installation.

    2. Yeah, I already went through that. I reinstalled the game from scratch and tried to inject your files and still came up with FFFF crashes. I appreciate your work here, don't get me wrong, just an end user struggling a little bit to get the cosmetics he wants. Thanks.

    3. As an update, I got it to work correctly now. I failed to realize just how easy you had made the process and was going outside of that and manually inserting files.

Thanks again. Sorry for the confusion.

    1. The JP version doesn't have the T5_League cinematic (yet?) so while the cutscenes patch will still work, that one will be en/de/fr voiced.

De-censor should still work, but it looks like 2 more Elin files are now identical across versions. I will update the patch today to reflect that.
