Update: De-censor Patch v1.2

Two more files are now identical across versions, so less things to patch. This patch allows updating from both the 1.0 and the 1.1 versions. I'm not actively playing TERA anymore, so if a new patch is out I might not know it. If a patch mentions adding new armors, then it's likely this patch has to be updated. Feel free to post a comment if that's the case.

Warning:
The patches are NOT compatible with any other de-censor/cutscene/voice patches you might have downloaded elsewhere. If you want to use these, make sure you have removed all the other versions before applying mine else you WILL break your TERA installation.

Update: NPC Voice Patch

This update adds patching of German and French NPC voice files (TERA EU only).
If you already have the 1.0 version and only want to patch English voices, you don't need to update.

Updates: De-Censor and Cutscenes

The Japanese version finally went f2p as well, so I can make an update of the patches. The NPC Voicepatch didn't need any updates, so it's only the de-censor and the cutscenes.

TERA EU Manual Patch Download

So as you might know, EME gives a direct link to their patches for people who have troubles with the launcher. Gameforge does not - or I haven't found out where. Long story short: it's manually downloadable as well, directly from gameforge's servers.

For the future, you can follow these instructions to get the newest patch:

1) start the launcher and let it create the patch files
2) go to your TERA directory and look for a folder that looks like this: pgc_v2_-1to11
3) take this link as a base and replace the occurrences with the files you need:

http://download.frogster-online.com/Tera/patches/game_v2/pgc_v2_-1to11/pgc_v2_-1to11.z01

4) this will give you the link to the first archive. To get all of them, go to the folder you found in step 2 and count the files. In this example, we have 13 files. This means we need links that end with .z01 to .z12, and one more link ending with .zip

What you gain from all this link creating is the possibility to download those archives with a download manager of your choice, potentially getting higher download speeds. The server seems to allow up to 6 concurrent connections. So, give it a try if you think the launcher is too slow. After downloading all the files, replace the files in your patch folder and start the launcher. It should begin checking the files and applying the patch.

edit: removed the links because they were apparently causing confusion.
Just follow the template and make links valid for your case, e.g. 1to27 or 26to27

De-Censor Patch v1.3

This patch will revert all censored armor models of the EU/US version to the JP/KR originals. After comparing the checksums of the files, I found out only Elin and Castanic armors differ between the western and eastern versions, so the patch only replaces files that differ binary.

For general information about the patches, see this post.

Known issue:  Elin body not visible on race select screen. This is due to a difference between EU/US and KR clients, it seems the Korean client doesn't use a hi-res texture on race select screen, so it is missing. Character creation and game still work fine, though.

Changelog:
2013.08.23 | 1.3 | Files updated
2013.05.13 | 1.2 | Update to latest version
2013.02.14 | 1.1 | Update to TERA: Rising
2013.01.18 | 1.0 | Initial release

Japanese Cutscenes 1.2

This patch replaces the sound of the cutscenes with the ones from the Japanese client. Since the opening differs between the versions, it will not be patched.
You have the choice to disable the intro completely though, making the game load faster without you having to spam ESC.

For general information about the patches, see this post.

Because of localization differences, the Japanese voicing will differ in wording, but the general idea should be the same. Install this one if you simply love Japanese and want to hear it instead of the English voiceover.

Should there be enough interest, I can expand this one (or make alternative packages) to replace the German and French NPC voiceovers, as well.

Changelog:
2013.08.23 | 1.2 | Added the latest cutscene
2013.02.14 | 1.1 | Update to TERA: Rising
2013.01.18 | 1.0 | Initial release

Japanese NPC Voices 1.2

This patch replaces the English NPC voice files with the ones from the Japanese client.
Install this one if you simply love Japanese and want to hear it instead of the English voices.
As a side effect, it makes Elins actually sound like their age. Do note that player voice files are identical across versions.

For general information about the patches, see this post.

Changelog:
2013.08.23 | 1.2 | Added new voice files
2013.04.09 | 1.1 | Adds patching of German/French voice files (TERA EU only)
2013.01.18 | 1.0 | Initial release (TERA: Rising compatible)

About this blog

After getting tired of having to fumble with files to keep my copy of TERA uncensored,
I decided to write a set of installers which would do the work for me. These installers automatically create a backup of the original files, restoring them on uninstall.

This way, all you have to do is uninstall the mod before updating your game and re-install afterwards. Since this is pretty handy, I decided to share it with others.

No more
- jumping through several directories
- backing up more than you should or
- having to painstakingly rename several dozens of files
- accidentally overwriting the originals
- getting stuck with checksum errors
- getting forced to re-download the whole game

All you have to do is point the installer to your TERA root directory.
The mods work on both EU and US clients, as far as I could test.
If you don't trust the installers... there are a couple of other people providing zipped versions.

Warning:
The patches are NOT compatible with any other de-censor/cutscene/voice patches you might have downloaded elsewhere. If you want to use these, make sure you have removed all the other versions before applying mine else you WILL break your TERA installation. You have been warned.

Disclaimer:
The installers are provided "as is", use these at your own risk. Modifying client files is against the Terms of Service/EULA. If you manage to break your installation, there will be no support from EnMasse or Gameforge. I do not claim to own any of the packaged files, the rights belong to their respective owners.
